When I was nine, I wrote some compositions. My mother put them into a local arts festival in the village where we lived outside London. A famous composer came down from London and said they were so bad he should be discouraged from ever composing again. So my mother did something very interesting - she sent these to Benjamin Britain. She didn't know him but just wanted a second opinion. He called up four days later saying: Is the compositions of fine? And why do you come and spend your summer holiday in Albrewe? You can get a caravan and stay there. Maybe the parents can live in a picture.
