Authoritarian Resilience in China

Authoritarian resilience is something of an obsession for younger American political scientists. Half of the assistant and associate fessors that i know who work on china now teach in political science departments do at least some of their work on authoritarian resilience. There's this general narrative, certainly in the popular media, that always paints the c c p as inherently unstable. And ther a certain clapsism that exists in our own political discourse about china,. sort of assuming that this is a system that's doomed to fail at some point. In political science, we a lot, most political scientists i know who are chinese scholars would argue against that point of view.
