Many of the migrants were brought in as strike breakers by companies who were trying to break t unions. And it's not like they were being welcomed with open arms when they landed in northern cities. Many places actually said african americans would not be hired, but they would stop them as they were walking up to the factory gate because it was visible that they were afAfrican American. They arrived a making the least for the hardest work and consigned to neighborhoods that had been declining from the moment they arrived. It's all the things that you know that sociology in political science and history come together and show us that they arrived invited, but not welcome....
