An Anatomy of a Monolith
El lanzon literally translates from spanish into english as the lance. It is the name of the granite monolith within the temple building at cabin de wanta, simply due to its shape. The jagua deity depicted on its surface would display a hair style which would ultimately end in the heads of snakes. Once again, we see a fearsome looking, fanged war jaguar creature carved into the monoleith. Some experts claim that this whole set up could likely be part of a ceremonial ritual where individuals were invited into this disorientating labyrinth and led to the monolithic room.
