Theology of the Trinity in Early Christianity
Christianity began as a sect of Judaism, well known for its uncompromising monotheism. That the early church would worship the man Jesus and teaching a plurality within God seems at first glance counterintuitive, even bizarre. Christian theology did not appear out of nothing, and we must look at what came before to make any historical sense of this development. The background to these ideas lies in the religion of ancient Canaan, Israel, and 2nd Temple Judaism.
