Lithium: India's Quest for White Gold
The Morning Brief
00:00
Is India Self Sufficient in Lithium Ion Cells?
Lithium is only two percent in lithium ion cell. The remaining 98 percent are if it uses cobalt and it's cobalt nickel magnesium carbon (NMC) These cells have the ability to hold a lot more energy. While these cells are great at holding a lot of energy there's a problem that they catch fire at any temperature that's beyond 60 degrees. They're not designed for Indian tropical conditions. India is now moving to a different iron based lithium ion chemistry called LFP. That uses iron and phosphorus and ferrous and phosphate instead of cobalt.
