What Changes Over Time?
I don't see a reason that I would say, Oh, hooray government, we need to do this because it will make us all so much better off. But we always seem to get it, which means that somebody's got the corner on power somewhere. So it doesn't. What we've seen over the course of history is there's a lot less violence partly because people's values have shifted to thinking that violence is a lot less easily justified. And at some point you realize that government is not consistent with modern values.
