This might be easy enough to do, your fuel might just be something hyperabundant like deuterium and you stop to resupply or pick up raw material to replicate but it does take time to slow down. As an example spinning up some sail of graphene just a few atomic widths thick and hundreds of kilometers wide might only cost you a few tons of available manner on your ship
