Since trinoble's nuclear reactor corps melted down in 19 86 the surrounding area has been deserted by people, but it has teemed with wild life. For the past three decades scientists have been able to observe the real time effects of radiation on plants and animals. So you can look at how animals interact in this radioactive environment compared to a relatively healthy environment that is otherwise identical to it. It creates a natural laboratory for studying those two things.
