The Importance of Boundaries in Addiction
A boundary is adaptable and gives us something to push into. It's our first experience of a membrane around us that is a buffer between stimulus and response. Our boundaries are meant to be adaptive, meaning how much yes and how much no versus yes or no. The only time I do the external is when I'm adrenalineized playing hockey and then I will yell. But outside of the rink, I almost never raise my voice.
