The Last Crisis for William's Reign

No mediaeval english king was entirely uncontested. The last big crisis for william's reign happens really right at the end ten 85, there's another threatened danish invasion. There is a residual danish sympathy, particularly in the north eastarn eastern parts of england. One of the things william is reputed to have done is to tell english people living in the english counties of england to shave their beards and to cut their hair,. so that if the danes arrived they would think there were normans living there rather than  the native English.
