The First American Vampire

Mercy brown was the first American vampire, but she wasn't really a vampire. She died of consumption in 18 92 after her heart and liver were burned on a stone near her grave. Her death inspired Bram stoker to write his book dracula about how he became a vampire. There are many other examples throughout the history of new england.
