The Importance of Public Key Cryptography

Public key cryptography is a form of encryption that has been around since Roman times. It's used on the web to make it easier for people to send and receive messages. The technology was even used in World War II when Germans were able to break their own system because they couldn't use symmetric cryptosystems. PGP, or public/private key cryptography, can be easily faked by anyone else but only if you know how to do it.
