Zero Pressure Balloons - Can They Be Stable?
The system calculates where you need to launch the balloon, and then it'll fly over the area at a certain height. How do you make sure it's imaging at a stable height across the entire area of interest? Great question. So we use what's called a zero pressure stratospheric balloon. This is a really unique type of balloon design that essentially has vents at the bottom of the balloon and a fixed volume and shape of the balloon.
