Syria

The conflict in Syria started as part of the Arab Spring and a kind of civilian uprising that then kind of morphed into an armed struggle. It's been going on since 2011 2012 and in these like really fundamental ways if you think about it has shaped the world that we live in now. Looking back it seems clear that Russia getting involved in Syria was very much a kind of training wheels moment for what they would ultimately do in Ukraine. I mean how could you not be moved by the extraordinary story of loss that they have been through? And I think it's just really important that as human beings we actually see each other's human stories.
