Melones team observed no link between the booming frequency and particle size. They hypothesise that speed of sand was not primarily responsible for the sound. If this vibration happens in a layer that's similar size to a cello, we get a frequency that is same size as a cella,. And that the wave speeds are somewhat similar as well.
