You Know the Good, the Choices You Make Are Always Informed
In the slave states, the laws trying slaves for murder if they kill somebody. They had laws against teaching slaves to read. And lincoln admits that the federal government has to protect the property and the hog and the buckboard, but he says the slave is different. That's the magic that happens, because human beings have this rational gift, right if it's true.
