The Evolution of Agriculture in the Pacific Northwest

Agriculture presents a lot of the same logistical realities that lead to hierarchy. Unless you have an enforcible redistribution system, which is logistically more difficult in the sedentary context, you will have wealth and equality. This explains why agriculture spread everywhere. But just because hierarchy becomes possible with agriculture or with certain types of hunting and gathering, it doesn't mean that hierarchy will automatically just happen, at least not right away.
