The Relationship Between Moon and Month in Modern English
The word day comes from an old english word, de which had a different endo european root. A month was based on the movement of the moon around the earth. The romans also used this word, mensus to represent a period of six months. Now we can easily see the connection of moon and month in modern English. They both ultimately come from the same indo European route.
