The Hundred Years' War and the Duke of Burgundy
France had a king named John the Good, but he wasn't particularly good at either ruling or fighting. He did have four sons who were actually pretty good at ruling and fighting. One of them inherited the throne in 1364 and managed to turn around the disastrous Hundred Years' War. The roots of these conflicts wouldn't be fully resolved until well into the 16th century.
