The Accelerating Expansion of the Universe

There's a bit of a disconnect in the terminology here. What most people think of as the Big Bang is that inflation, the really rapid expansion very early on. We don't know how we got that original, very hot, dense state. Maybe it was inflation. maybe it was something else we really just don't know.
