The Importance of Space in Natural Philosophy
Plato says that the natural world arises when a kind of god, who he calls the demiurge or craftsman, imposes form or determination on something that Plato calls the receptacle. But for Aristotle, there will be spaces in between the three-dimensional geometrical shapes, and so you'll wind up with void. So Aristotle's actually committed to the view that there's nothing outside the cosmos, not even empty space.
