My guess is that even the two maples in his backyard are different species. They might look really kind of similar when they're green and fully leafed out, but my guess is that they're different species. And I'd be curious to see his leaves and how they're changing colors and to know if that's happening every single year. Some trees will change colors more than once in a way. So it could be a gradient of change that happens.
