What's the Difference Between Imperial and Metric?

The Great Lakes contain about 20% of all the fresh liquid water in the world. If you took that amount of water and spread it across the land of the 48 US states, it would cover them three meters deep with water. That really sounds like a threat. I'd like to know how full the Grand can probably be - right?
