The Sacrament of Confession - I Love Confession
Can one receive the forgiveness of god apart from the sacrament of confession? Yes, we would say, with a perfect act of contrition. God is not constrained by the sacraments of the catholic church but rather, god has deemed that this is the ordinary means by which he wants to express his forgiving love to his people. The sacrament is simply the priest operating in persona christi, in the person of christ, who is offering the lord's forgiveness.
