There was this weird unifying spirit of this protest where French and English protesters and indigenous to put aside their divisions. I write in the book at some point that I had never in my life seen a French Quebec separatist and an Alberta separatist partying together and hugging. It was interesting because a lot of the sectarianism you see in Canada posits that the others are your greatest nemesis. The government gave everyone a greater villain than whatever they had previously.
