The witch panic began to spread far beyond even massachusetts. A servant girl said that she felt a prickling and pinching in her est while gathering herbs. She then spent the next two days weeping and falling to the floor, followed by another 13 days of being haunted by a spectral cat who alternately cajoled and threatened her. If people didn't participate in these accusations in some way, if they changed their mind, they would be accused.
