Would Sloths Sleep for Shorter Periods?
We call it active rest. So you might be laying down in bed with your eyes shut, but they're not actually asleep. They're using that time and that peace and quiet to break down the food that they're digesting. There is research done on it by a sloth charity that we work with. I can't recite it for you all right now, but my personal belief is that they would rest for short periods because that's the safest thing to do rather than just be flat out asleep or put yourself at risk basically.
