Is There a Future for AI?

I think AI is going to go through multiple stages of development, which will have very different ethical implications. At the current stage, AI's don't have autonomous agency or self understanding. Once you're there, then AGI is no longer primarily a tool of people. And in this era, AI could be a tool that people use to oppress and kill other people - but it can also be used to save lives,. create beautiful artworks and to teach  to exalt and improve life.
