Why Riots Don't Happen

Politicians very quickly confuse or link or elid understanding with excusing. They think that if you endeavour to make sense of and understand what goes on in something like a riot, then you're somehow excusing the behaviour of those who are involved. It's perfectly possible to do both. What you see is poor, impoverished, disfranchised communities with precious little hope actually getting worse. And by forgetting the rits that amnesia allows those conditions to fester to worse and so forth. We can't predict. Retrospectively, i think we can kind of diagnose, but the diagnosis doesn't allow us any prognostification. Doesn't allow us to look forward at all
