The National Crisis

Some of the national crises that you write about also strike me as being so they're not young in the life of a nation. And it seems to me that stands in contrast with some of the other examples you give, particularly can say contemporary japan which is not just an elderly society. But there are societies that are quite set in their ways, and its closer to a crisis later on in human life where it's much harder to leave behind what has served them. So i would say that the national crises are all over the map. They are the personal crises of middle age, those of developmental crises. On top of that, they are crises that have no relation to the life stage.
