The Argument for Signing Treaties
There's no evidence that having these treaties with these provisions increases an investment. There's also no solid evidence that just increasing investment on its own, any kind of investment is going to lead to broad, based, shared, equitable, sustainable development. South Africa has been trying to extricate itself from the system. Even if they're canceled, sometimes these provisions can remain enforced for many years through sunset clauses.
