In the 1980s, when privatisations were taking place, water was seen to be out of bounds. The Tories tried it in 84, pulled back from it. 86, and they decide, oh, we'll go ahead with it. And England and Wales became the first places in the world to have a fully privatised water and sewage system. It never was popular. It was always seen as absurd. Now polls being taken, that 83% of people favoured the renationalisation of the water industry. You can see why, because of all the utilities, water is, if you like, the purest.
