The Relationship Between Imagination and Rational Thinking

Cognitively speaking do you think it makes sense to separate things like pretend play imagination and fantasy from the concrete and rational thinking does that distinction make sense or not? I would argue against it so traditionally those two tendencies let's call them the imaginative on the one hand and the rational on the other um they have been placed in opposition. There's a very deep persistent lifelong connection between everyday thinking everyday planning and the imagination mm-hmm but we're not going to be able to think about how we can relate without using our imagination.
