The Government's Expanding Support for Single Parents
Single parents will receive an extra level of income support until their child turns 14 instead of just 8. By the time you're settled in high school, many kids are considering getting your own job and we felt that was the right place to extend that entitlement. It gives women or single parents of whom the majority of women remain on the higher payment to the youngest child is 14. Minister: For me it provided financial security and stability for my little family which was just myself and my daughter at that stage but as finance minister I've had to look more broadly at what's possible.
