Gavin Ignatius: The expectations you might come into expecting the New Testament to clear up are not cleared up so sufficiently that there aren't well-meaning Christians on both sides of the question. He says even the question of whether bishops and prespoters are the same or different office is just from anyone's perspective, I think, not clearly spelled out. "I wish that God had been a little clearer on this,"Ignatius adds. 'It would have cleared up a lot of later ecclesiastical controversies'
