Dan O'Brien had a tantalizing gig with SO terracist and filmmaker Alejandro Dordowowski, working on his infamous rendition of Dune. It introduced O'Bannon to artists like Chris Foss, Gene Mobius, Gerard, and H.R. Geiger who would inspire the design of alien itself. The pair went around pitching it to studios as jaws in space and eventually got picked up by a production company called Brandy Wine which was associated with 20th Century Fox. All was not well, however, as the studio gave the script over to David Giller and Walter Hill, who trimmed much of the excess from the script.
