Qiu hu wao was the character I always dreamed of playing, says Funging. The classic ballet has been staged worldwide thousands of times and is still popular today. It brought worldwide fame to Chinese ballet dances when it was performed for the late US president Richard Nixon on his ice-breaking visit to China in 1972. Since its premiere, it has been performed more than 4,000 times in the US, the UK, France, Spain, Austria and many other countries.
