In Genesis 21, God tells Abraham to send Hagar and Ishmael away. "Cast out the slave woman and her son for the son of the slave woman shall not inherit with the son of a free woman," he says. The passage is interpreted by both Jewish and Christian interpreters as implying that Isaac was taunting his older brother at the time.
