The Sex Scene Between Paul Wing and Yufai

In 1996, director Hong Kong wide direct two of his city's brightest stars, Tony Leong and Leslie Chiang, to Argentina for a painfully intimate and turbulent love story. The opening of the film is a stark black and white sex scene between Paul Wing and Yufai. This is the first Hong Kong film to feature an explicit and extended sex scene between men. Both Far Around My Concubine and Happy Together are important, defining films of Cheong's career and for queer cinema in East Asia. While they were not the first films made that centered and humanized queer experiences, they had an outsized impact.
