Searle: I've heard Foucault say that if the reader knows your argument in the first 10 pages, then you failed or you're not going to get it published. That would be intentionally obfuscating. But when you read actual, like scholarly articles, that's never the fucking case. Like, if anything, it comes at the end of the introductory section, which may be one paragraph. Eric Searle: Imagine teaching your students how Foucault writes, though, like, and then to write how Foucaults writes, that's crazy. You got to start with like the introduction paragraph.
