The bond market is really a bet on future inflation. A faltering economy will tend to give you lower levels of inflation, lower levels of interest rates. Typically in portfolios, there is a split between about 60 % equities, forty % bonds. K so if one guy goes up, the other guy goes down, if one guy going down, the other guys go up,. You might be actually bein able to create some value whether the economy's going up or when the economy’s going down.
