The Free Gift of God Is Eternal Life

John three 16 says, for god's love the world that he gave his one only son. This means that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life. While jesus was on earth, he never committed any sin, making him perfect. In bible times, the jews were commanded to sacrifice a spotless lamb every year to god to be forgiven of their past sins. Since jesus did a sin throughout his life, he is considered to be the spotless lamb of god, and takes away the sins of the world through his sacrifice.
