What Is the Best Preserved First Century Synagogue?

There were basically two different kinds of synagogues in Jesus' day. One kind was like a municipal center, the other was associated with particular groups. Most likely here we have a synagogue that is especially controlled by people who are sympathetic to the Pharisees.
