Introduction

The Bill of Rights was a compromise among the founding fathers in the late 1700s. It articulates certain freedoms, certain rights of the citizenry that are not given to people by the state. The 8th amendment prohibits cruel and unusual punishment. This is an age old tradition of the state. And one of those comes from the Persians.
