Why Are Some Rocks Shiny and How Do They Shine?

Sahara wants to know something that you were kind of just talking about with graphite. Why are some rocks shiny and how do they shine? This is the most fascinating question I have ever had Sahara. So rocks shine because of the way minerals reflect light. And then some things, the surface is not very smooth even though it may look smooth but it's a little bit rough if you really look close so they bounce the light in this cut-out manner which doesn't give us the shine.
