There were many women critics of this idea. The ethologists had female critics who were biologists. After sociobiology enters the picture with E.O. Wilson, a bunch of women biologists and psychologists got together to form a group that they called the genes and gender collective. And they brought a series of very, very important criticisms against both the ethologists and the sociobiologists. They focused on the sexism of the gendering and on their claims.
