The Mine Fire in Centralia

The town of centralia inspired the fictional town of valcanvania. The local home owners were offered by outs from the government to relocate. There were few residents left who didn't want to leave. And apparently no is going to be allowed to move to the area. So it's just those people there as long as they stay, or until their deaths.
