Christopher's Passion for Detail and Consistency
Even in his youngest childhood, Christopher did play a sort of a role as a proofreader. Tolkien's senior was already pretty punctilious about these things. I don't think that someone with Christopher's sharp attention to detail and excellent memory would have had all the tools necessary for what he later did with his father's works.
