In the early 19 nineties, nick land wrote a text called meldown. I believe it's the single most underrated work of social theory from that decade. The storygoes like this, earth is captured by a techn capital singularity as renaissance, rationalization and oceanic navigation lock into commoditization take off. It's actually extraordinary how precient that essay is in terms of being vindicated by history after it was written.
